Carcass

Carcass were a British death metal band formed by Napalm Death guitarist Bill Steer together with drummer Ken Owen in 1985. They were based in Liverpool. In 1987, bassist and vocalist Jeff Walker, formerly of the Electro Hippies, joined them. Carcass have been a very influential band within the death metal scene.

One of the many features that made the Carcass sound was the guitars being tuned 5 semi-tones down from E to B - a fact that Bassist/Vocalist Jeff Walker tried to embellish on in the UK’s Metal Hammer magazine in December 1994. Unfortunately the interviewer thought this a bit techy/boring for the reader and edited most of the discussion out. However, only 1 year later the same magazine was hailing KoRn as pioneers for tuning down to A.(BIO from wikipedia)
